Preface:
Timber must be protected from:
- insect infestation
- wood destroying
- and wood discolouring fungi
Timber suffering fungal decay are known to provide
strong attraction to many species of termites. Ref.:
Building Out Termites" R. Verkerk.
2.1 TIMBER (OLD AND NEW)
a) Apply one coat of BIO Wood Protecting
Borax making sure the solution penetrates into the timber.
b) After 24 hours drying time, apply a second
coat.
c) Before applying paint, remove excess Wood
Protecting Borax from the surface with water and a damp
cloth. Borax is a natural salt and if not removed can
inhibit proper adhesion or discolour the paint.
2.2 POST, BEAMS, POLES ETC.
a) Prepare a BIO Wood Protecting Borax
solution in a drum or trench and soak the timber for
24 hours.
b) After the timber is dry, remove excess Wood
Protecting Borax from the surface with water and a damp
cloth. Let dry again and apply two coats of BIO Wood
Varnish or one coat of BIO Enamel Lacquer for timber
which is going to be in contact with soil or in wet
spots.
