ATTENTION:
Natural materials give off particular odours, which
may be unpleasant to some people. We recommend a light
airing after painting, until these odours dissipate.
Inner surfaces of furniture should be treated with BIO
Antique Wax or BIO Japanese Seedlac as varnishes or
oils may develop lasting odours.
Hardwoods and other timbers rich in natural oils, waxes, acids and terpenes should be degreased using Bio Thinner because these substances may mix with the varnish / oil and prolong its drying time. Let dry for 24 hours.
6.1 TIMBER ENHANCEMENT
Light timber - Use BIO Natural Wood Oil
Darker Timber - Use BIO Red Oil working it well into
the grain. Remove excess oil with a clean cloth after
15-30 minutes.
6.1.1 VARNISH FINISH
a) Apply two coats of BIO All Purpose
Varnish interior gloss or satin thinned down with
10-20% BIO Thinner. Drying time in between 24 hours.
6.1.2 WAX FINISH
a) Apply one coat of BIO Teak Oil.
Remove excess oil with a clean cloth after 10 - 20
minutes.
b) After 24 hours drying time, spread a thin
layer of BIO Antique Wax. Polish after 6-12 hours
with a clean cloth. The surface can be re- coated
as often as desired.
6.1.3 OIL FINISH
a) Apply one coat of BIO Priming
Oil. Remove the excess oil with a clean cloth after
15-30 minutes.
b) After 24 hours drying time sand if necessary.
Now apply one or several coats of BIO Natural Wood
Oil or BIO Teak Oil until finish is satisfactory.
Every coat must be dry. Wait as long as possible before
applying the next coat. Always remove the excess oil
with a clean cloth after 10-30 minutes.
c) A thin layer of BIO Antique Wax as a finishing
coat will strengthen the coating system.
6.1.4 VARNISH - STAIN FINISH
a) Apply two coats of BIO Wood Varnish
coloured. Sand if necessary after the first coat. For
fewer colours apply only one coat BIO Wood Varnish coloured
and one coat BIO All Purpose Varnish interior. Let dry
in between for 24 hours.
6.1.5 ENAMEL FINISH
a) Apply one coat of BIO Enamel Lacquer
Undercoat.
b) After 24 hours drying time apply one or
two coats of BIO Enamel Lacquer white or coloured,
thinned down by 5-10% with BIO Thinner.
6.1.6 FRENCH POLISH FINISH
ATTENTION: If an oil is used as a primer or enhancement
please make sure that it has dried thoroughly before
using BIO Japanese Seedlac.
a) Brush, spray or rub. Apply several
coats to achieve a high sheen. Let harden in between
coats for at least 4 hours. Cut back with very fine
steel wool before re-coating.
b) 24 hours after the last coat has been applied
a thin layer of BIO Antique Wax will strengthen the
coating system.
